The eu ban on | disposable plastic products
In June 2019, the European Union (EU) adopted the Directive on single-use Plastics (EU No. 2019/904), which aims to prevent and reduce the impact of certain plastic products on the environment. The Directive will come into force on 3 July 2021. From the date of entry into force, each EU member state should adopt national legislation to ensure the implementation of the ban in its own country no later than two years.
So far, 23 countries in the EU have legislated or taken action on the Single-use Plastics Directive (SUP, Single Use Plastics), but four countries -- Slovakia, Slovenia, Cyprus and Poland -- have delayed the implementation of the directive.
The directive prohibits the following types of single-use plastics from being placed on the EU market:
Cotton swabs, tableware (knife, fork, spoon, chopsticks), plates, straws, beverage stirring sticks, balloon sealing sticks, food and beverage containers and their LIDS made of expanded polystyrene, expanded polystyrene cups and their LIDS and oxidized degradable plastic products. Biodegradable plastics are also covered by the directive.
On May 31, the European Commission released a guide on single-use plastics for Chinese companies exporting plastic products to the EU.
UK | will extend to most import quotas and tariffs for steel
The UK said on the 30 June it would introduce new rules to help protect its steel industry after accepting a suggestion from the new Trade Remedies Authority to scrap some import quotas.
'The government has no choice but to accept or reject in full the TRA's recommendation that quotas and tariffs on 10 categories of steel products should remain in place for three years and be eliminated for nine other categories,' said Mr. Truss, the U.K. 's international trade secretary. The government will issue an announcement temporarily delaying the start-up of another five of 19 steel products for one year. Imports outside the quota will face a 25% tariff.
Bangladesh | plan small car import tariffs
Bangladesh's Parliament has approved the country's finance Bill 2021, which cuts import duties on 10 to 15 passenger cars by 10%, Bangladesh's Financial Express reported. E-commerce platform enterprises with an annual turnover of more than 10 million taka can enjoy tax breaks and exemptions.
